'The Pride of the East-end'

Glasgow Girls & Women FC

A few positional changes seen some of the girls moved out of position this proved to be the right decision with a good performance from the squad to draw 1-1 with Motherwell FC 15s one of the stronger teams in the league.

In the first half GGFC had opportunities to go ahead through Lauren McMillan and Claire Mcfarlane but the wingers couldn’t convert their chances. A competitive first half with both side coming in all square at the break.

The girls started off slow in the second half but grew into the game as time went on. The determination of the girls play rewarded them with a penalty and opportunity to go ahead. Rebecca Mcallister the youngest member of the squad stepped up to dispatch the penalty into the far right corner. A well taken goal by “Becs” showing her maturity to step up. There was only a minute to go when Motherwell scored the equaliser through a lapse of concentration in the Glasgow defence in not getting out to the ball quick enough.

The girls can take confidence from this game going into the summer break with a great start to life in the performance league. A big well done to all the girls effort in the first half of the season.
