Glasgow Girls remain unbeaten in the league this season after being held to a 1-1 draw by Hamilton Academical at Petershill Park.

John Doyle’s side were the better team for large parts of the game but a second half penalty saw the visitors sneak a point.

After a quiet start, Glasgow went close to opening the scoring when Accies keeper Lauren Grant flapped at a cross but the away defence managed to scramble the ball behind for a corner.

Six minutes later though it was 1-0 when a corner was only cleared as far as Chloe Docherty who fired a wonderful shot into the top corner of the net.

The dominance continued throughout the first half and it really should have been two just before half time when Grant again lost control of the ball but Shannon Mulligan wasn’t able to hit the target, firing wide of the goal.

Lauren Kerr was denied by a solid save from Grant before the Accies keeper was lucky to see the ball come back off the post from a corner.

With 68 minutes on the clock, the away side had their first major chance when Gillian Sloey put the ball past Toni Harkness, but also past the post, when the better option was to square to her teammate to tap home.

They had a massive chance to equalise with quarter an hour remaining when Georgina McTear was adjudged to have handled the ball in the box and Amy Anderson stepped up to fire the spot kick into the net.

Glasgow almost got their second league win of the season in the last minute when Docherty was denied by a fantastic save from Grant.

Next week, the girls travel to take on Kilmarnock in the fourth game of the season in SWPL 2.
