Glasgow Girls climbed to third in the SWPL 2 table with a comfortable 2-0 victory over Dundee United at Petershill.
First half goals from Lucy McEwan and Emma Porteous saw John Doyle’s side dispatch of their visitors from Tayside.
It was United who had the first opportunity but Laurie Denney’s tame shot was easily held by Toni Harkness.
On seven minutes, the hosts took the lead when Diana Dewald misjudged a header, letting Lucy McEwan in on goal and she continued her scoring from by rolling the ball past the United keeper.
The second goal came after twenty minutes with Emma Porteous’ free-kick taking a slight deflection on its way into the bottom corner of the net.
Lauren Kerr then came close to adding a quickfire third, but her shot from distance hit the underside of the bar before being cleared to safety.
United keeper Aaliyah-Jay Meach was then called into action twice before the break, denying both SWPL Player of the Month Chloe Docherty and Porteous
The second half was a lot quieter with the hosts content to let the Tangerines have the ball but United struggled to create many opportunities.
Ellie Reid had an early chance but her shot was saved by Toni Harkness with the only other chance of note coming when Stacey McFadyen’s corner caused havoc in the Glasgow Girls defence before being cleared.
It could have been three in stoppage time but Meach was again on hand to keep the ball out, this time denying substitute Jayny Saunders.
In the end, the points went the way of Glasgow Girls who are now just one point behind leaders Hamilton Academical at the top of the table.
The Girls are back in action next Sunday when they take on Partick Thistle as the away side at Petershill Park.
