Glasgow Girls FC had teams playing Sat & Sun on weekend 18th & 19th May

On Sat the under 15s won 7-0 away to Dumbarton United and on Sunday in the Seniors Scottish Cup Our Div-1 team won 7-0 away to Leith Athletic in Edinburgh with goals from Wardrope-3, McManus-2,Paterson-1 & Webb-1.

The Div-2 squad also in Round-1 of the Scottish Cup won 27-0 against Irvine Thistle and the goals came from, Lauren Coleman-10, Cheryl Watt-8, Jodie Pratt-3, Lyndsay Swiney-1, Gemma McElhinney-1, Claire Wright-1, Sammy Davies-1 & 2 own goals.

Glasgow Girls FC Open Own Facility

 

Glasgow Girls FC opened their new playing & training facility within Budhill Park on Sunday 14th April.

David Turner (Local Baillieston Ward Councillor) & Maureen McGonigle (Scottish Womans Football) opened the facility at 2pm and this was followed by our Div-2 Senior teams League Cup game v Falkirk FC reserves which we won 3-1 and moved into the Quarter Final.

Players Wanted For

 

SWFL Div 1

 

Glasgow Girls FC will run two Senior teams this season and we are looking for playes for the Div-1 side. Players interested in playing at this level should be ambitous and be able to attend training, The club also has a team in Div-2 but we have 20 players in this side.

All games will be played at our new club owned facility within Budhill Park, Shettleston, Glasgow and travel to away games will be in the clubs mini bus, all club kit is by Adidas.

Glasgow Girls FC are now looking for players to complete their 2013 squads for the new season which starts in March. The club has teams at Under 9s,11s,13s,15s,17s & 2 x Womans Teams one in the SWFL 1st Div and one in the SWFL 2nd Div

All games will be played at Glasgow Girls FCs own facility in Budhill Park and teams will travel to away games in the clubs on mini-bus.

The club recently won "Sports Club Of The Year" in the Glasgow City Councils Sports Awards held in the city chambers, The club is also the only club in Glasgow with the SFA "Community" Quality Mark Award, the highest award possible.

"Glasgow Sports Club Of The Year"

 

At Glasgow City Chambers on Friday 1st February Glasgow Girls FC were winners of the prestigious "Glasgow Sports Club of the Year" In Glasgow City Councils 2012 Sports Awards Night, the awards night was presented by Radios Clyde’s "George Bowie" and was attended by The Lord Provost and local councillors and MPs

The club now in its 5th year was presented with their award by George Black Chief Executive of Glasgow City Council.

The club would like to thank all the coaches at the club for all their hard work and also the players, parents and sponsors

Glasgow Girls FC have now bought their own mini-bus for use for all the teams to away games. The club would like to thank "The "Scottish Football Partnership" & "SWF" for use of their bus in the 2012 season.

McDonald’s & Sunday Mail Grassroots Football Awards 2012

 

     

Glasgow Girls FC have been awarded the prestigious "Community Champions Award" in the 2012 McDonalds/Sunday Mail Grassroots Awards held at a black tie dinner at Hampden Park on 27th September attended by star guests, Craig Levein, Kenny Dalglish (Ex Liverpool player & manager) and SFA Chief Executive Stuart Regan. The night was hosted by Jim Fleeting Head of SFA development and speaker for the night was ex referee Willie Young.

The club are delighted to have won such an award and it shows we are going in the right direction with our own club and player development.

Glasgow Girls FC were reconised in The Scottish Parliament for all the good work and success in promoting Girls & Womans football. This is great for the club and shows the club are being reconised at parliamental level for what they do. Thank you to all the Coaches, Players, Parents & Sponsors

That the Parliament congratulates Glasgow Girls FC on being nominated for the 2012 Community Club of the Year at the Scottish Football Association’s (SFA) Grassroots Awards

  • notes that the team is the only one in Glasgow to achieve the SFA Quality Mark community award, which it considers to be the gold standard in football.
  • acknowledges that the club has recently been permitted to make the pitches at Budhill Park its new home ground.
  • congratulates the team on being given portable changing rooms worth £30,000 by the Scottish Football Partnership.
  • understands that it still needs to raise a further £9,000 to transform the unused pitches into a strong base, and urges the local community and businesses to dig deep and support what is seen as one of the most successful girls’ football teams in Scotland.

Carrickfergus Tournament

Glasgow Girls FC are just back form a week long visit to Carrickfergus in Northern Ireland where the club was invited to take part in the Carrickfergus Ladies Football Tournament. The club sent their under 17s squad to compete in the tournament and they never lost a game in the group section games against older teams. The group scores were

The club had a fantastic time and while we were their we managed days out in Bangor & Belfast, We would like to thank Lynda Waring, Events Officer at Carrickfergus Council and Kyle for all his orginisation. The cub have already been invited to return in 2013

Olympics

 

 

 

Glasgow Girls FC will feature on the large screens at halftime at Hampden, St James's Park, Millenium Stadium, Wembley, during all the Olympic football matches in a four minute video about the club. The film crew from London have now finished filming and were at the clubs training filming all the age groups and interviewing players, parents and coaches.

The first time it will be shown will be at halftime of USA v France on 25th July.

The club also received complemantary tickets for all the games and the first of these will be sent out soon to those who requested them.

Tesco Shettleston

On Saturday 23rd June Glasgow Girls FC 17s & Seniors took part in a bag-pack at the local Tesco in Shettleston, The girls were packing bags from 11am-3pm and raised £928 which will go towards new kit for both squads.

On Friday 30th March Glasgow Girls FC were awarded Glasgow City Councils Glasgow Life "Clubmark" award. This is now the second Quality Mark Award the club has now achieved along with the SFAs "Community" award.
