2011 Season

 

The girls football season ends in November and starts again for a new season in March 2011. Glasgow Girls FC are taking names for their 2011 squads. If you are playing football at the moment and wish to play for Glasgow Girls FC then please apply now as we are already taking names. All applications will be treated in ther strictest confidence. As a pathway from our active schools link with all the Primary Schools in Glasgow's East End and for any girl who is interested in playing football Glasgow Girls FC will run a development class at the above venue. The class will also be used as a pathway for girls to progress to our under 11s & 13s girls teams.

Active Schools Programme

 

Glasgow Girls FC Active Schools programme will now go ahead on the second week in September after funding was made avaliable from "Awards For All"

The programme will see the Glasgow Girls FC coaches & SFA Qualified players go into Primary & Secondary schools in Glasgows East End and deliver coaching sessions during school hours.

Each school taking part which will be six per week will finish after a 4 week block with a football festival at Greenfield Football Centre, the home of Glasgow Girls FC. The club will spend 12 hours per week in the local schools

Every Primary & Secondery School in the East End will take part.

The initiative will also allow for a pathway to our teams from school starting at under 11s & 13s for primary schools and 13s,15s,17s for secondary schools.

This initiative will work in partnership with all the East End active schools co-ordinators who all support the programme.

Goalkeeper Wanted

Glasgow Girls FC are looking for a goalkeeper born in either 1997 or 1998 for their under 13s team.
The club will provide Goalkeeping coaching every Monday by an SFA qualified goalkeeping coach.

"Club of the Month"
 
 
Glasgow Girls FC were today voted "Club Of The Month" for August in the first ever Glasgow Sports Council Club Awards. This was a fantstic acheivement which included not only football clubs but clubs from varying sports including, Rugby, Cricket, Basketball and many more sports all played in Glasgow.
Some of the main deciding factors in winning this award were our SFA "Development" Quality Mark Award acheivement and our Active Schools Link
 
Colin Atkinson, Chair of the Sports Council said:

Glasgow Girls FC are to be congratulated on winning the SCG first club of the month award. It is great that their volunteers are so active in their youth development programme and their links with school clubs. 

Their series of age group teams provides an excellent pathway for players taking them from the junior ranks through to the senior teams.

Glasgow Girls FC have now achieved "Development" status within the S.F.A. Quality Mark Awards. There are three quality mark levels Standard, Development & Community. GGFC are only the third club and the first girls football club in the West of Scotland to gain this award.
To get the award Glasgow Girls FC had to satisfy the following criteria

3-Player & Coach Development
4-Planning
5-Welfare

As an SFA Quality Mark club Glasgow Girls FC were choosen to receive training equipment and strips with the McDonalds logo on them. McDonalds also paid for the clubs "Player of the Year" trophies.
