At

U.E.F.A. Cup Final Stadium

in

Four Nations Tournament

Glasgow Girls represented Scotland at under 14's in the "Tesco Cup" which is for the Cup winners of England, Wales, Northern Ireland at Manchesters City's ground, which is the City of Manchester Stadium where the U.E.F.A. Cup final was held.

The team travelled from The Burnside Hotel at 10am on 17th May  and stayed at the Holiday Inn overnight. On Sunday they  travelled to the Stadium, and spent all day playing and watching the games of the other age groups and play the semi-Final against the representatives from Wales (details below)

On Sat night after watching the F.A. Cup final the team all travelled into Machester city centre by tram and had their meal at Pizza Hut before going on the second biggest "Big Wheel" in Europe, Not content with that they then proceeded to wind up coach Kirsty Greig by phone who could not make the trip, needless to say Kirsty fell for every prank going.

The day and the experience at the stadium will live with players forever as they entered the stadium by the players entrance, and were shown to the Home dressing room and warmed-up in the Home teams warm-up area.

The girls played Welsh champions "Mardy Tigers" who boasted 7 welsh internationalists and were a year older. They had been playing 11 a-side football for 2 years while our team were made up of 8 players from our under 13s who were playing 7 a-sides. The team competed for every ball and did not let themselves down but were defeated 1-0 by a well organised and strong Mardy team who drew 0-0  in the final but were beaten on penalties by Northern Belles from Belfast.

The girls and coaches then enjoyed the day and the entertainment Tesco had laid on with most going for the face painting, including the coaches!!!!!!!

Well done to the girls and lets hope we can return!

Club Set-up Season 2008-2009

Next season 2008-2009 the club will be known as

Boys Section : "Clyde Soccer Glasgow"

Girls Section "Glasgow Girls F.C."

and will be split into five sections

  • Childrens Section : 5 Teams
  • Youth Section : 5 Teams
  • Girls Section : 8 Teams
  • Ladies Section2 Teams
  • Community Section : 200 Children

As you can see from the above "Clyde Soccer Glasgow" will control all sections of the club and the Management Committee of the club will not change. Each section will have a line manager reporting to the head coach.

We are restructuring the club as now we run 15 teams which are both boys and girls/ladies teams and have over 200 children a week attending a Community Course.

We have now made links with Glasgow City Councils "Culture & Sport" football development department and our players will now attend their player development centres.

We hope that the club will continue to grow and with the players & parents support we will.

Next Season Fees

Next season all monthly fees will be collected by standing order and there will be no exceptions to this. No coach from next season will collect fees as this is taking up far too much of the coaches time. Your standing order mandates will be given out in the next few weeks to give to your bank, and the first payment will be 1st August.
